Looking forward to this one. Last year, we had a good run in the EFL Cup, unfortunately getting knocked out to Premier League side Chelsea.
Blackburn started the season positively, with a 4-2 win over recently promoted side Derby County. We showed strong threats in attack, and everyone looked pretty much match-fit. Considering it was only the first game of the season. With two debutants getting on the score sheet.
Stockport, on the other hand, started the season off confidently after their 2-0 victory over Cambridge United.
Rovers and Stockport faced each other only a few weeks ago in a pre-season friendly, which Rovers won 1-0. A penalty from Tyrhs Dolan saw the game out for Rovers.
I do not doubt that John Eustace will want to impress in the Cup. After a decent fight against Chelsea last year, there is no reason he won't want to get even further this year.
With Rover's good attacking threat, we can put a few goals past Stockport. However, this still doesn't mean it will be a walk in the park. Rovers will be tested and have to be up for the game.
I'm saying 3-1 Rovers
Thanks for reading the Rovers blog
